Frequently asked
Questions, answered.
Programme
What does "School-Based" actually mean?+
It refers to the curriculum's design, not the venue. PEERS® School-Based is formatted so everyday school staff — teachers, counsellors, SLPs — can teach it as part of a school-context curriculum, but it can be delivered inside a school, in after-school or community programs, in private practice, or by trained parents reinforcing the skills at home.
What is the difference between School-Based and Young Adults?+
The School-Based track is designed for educators and parents delivering PEERS® to adolescents (roughly ages 11–17) across educational, community and private-practice settings. It excludes the romantic relationships module and is formatted for non-clinical facilitators. The Young Adults track is clinical, delivered by psychologists in clinic settings for ages 18+, and includes romantic relationships content. SGH ran a Young Adults cohort in Singapore in Feb 2026; this is the first School-Based cohort in Asia Pacific.
Is PEERS® only for autistic students?+
No. PEERS® has the strongest evidence base for adolescents with ASD, but it serves any adolescent who struggles socially — ADHD, anxiety, depression, peer rejection, social isolation. It is not diagnosis-gated.
Eligibility
Do I need a clinical degree to attend?+
No. The School-Based certification is for educators, counsellors, school psychologists, SLPs, school administrators, allied-health practitioners, community workers and parents. No clinical licensure is required.
I'm a parent. Can I attend?+
Yes. Parents and caregivers of adolescents showing signs of social challenges are explicitly welcome — to partner with their child's school, to run practice at home, or to co-facilitate community groups.
I'm a graduate student. Can I attend?+
Yes. We welcome graduate students in education, school psychology, counselling and SLP programmes.
Format
Is the training live or recorded?+
Live online. All three days are interactive — role-plays, group facilitation labs, and Q&A cannot be done from a recording.
Which time zone is the training in?+
All sessions run 7am–3pm SGT (UTC+8). Local start times are listed on the homepage country grid for participants across Asia Pacific.
What platform — Zoom, Google Meet or Teams?+
Confirmed per cohort. Most cohorts run on Zoom; some institutional cohorts prefer Google Meet or MS Teams. Your cohort's platform is shown on your dashboard and emailed before the start date.
Payment
What if my school can't pay by credit card?+
We accept purchase orders, NET30 invoicing, two-instalment plans, and Wise bank transfers. Use the PO option during registration and our team will handle invoicing.
Is there an early-bird discount?+
Yes — early bird is USD 1,530 (saves USD 270 vs the standard USD 1,800 fee). Early-bird closes ahead of the cohort; the exact date is shown on the registration page.
Are refunds available?+
Full refunds are available up to 30 days before the cohort start date. After that, you can transfer your seat to a colleague or to a future cohort within 12 months.
After certification
What do I receive after certification?+
A UCLA School-Based Certified Provider credential, listing in the international provider directory, featured profile on peers.asia, full curriculum manual, parent and teacher handouts, outcome measurement tools, and a 1:1 implementation coaching call.
Can my school promote my certification publicly?+
Yes. Once your certificate is issued, you and your school may publicly identify you as a UCLA PEERS® School-Based Certified Provider, with your unique certificate number.
